The Oddbins Take

A deliciously juicy example of Spain's most important red grape variety, this benefits in complexity and character from its old vine production. Big, bold and muscular, it also boasts an attractive colour and packs a delightfully perfumed punch, with a strong - yet not overwhelming - finish. Crack open once well into a long meal with friends. This red has fire in its belly, enjoy over a long discussion into the early hours.

The Campos de Luz vineyard boasts Garnacha vines between 40 and 80 years old, planted as individual ‘bush vines’ without irrigation. The local climate is continental: dry with long, hot summers and cold winters with daily temperature fluctuations tempered by the “Cierzo”, a cool northerly wind which helps to keep humidity in the vineyard low. Consequently, in the winery every effort is made to let the naturally concentrated flavours of the Garnacha to shine through. Fermentation and maturation occur in temperature regulated stainless steel tanks, with no oak used at any stage.
