Champagne Bollinger

Bollinger

The Champagne house Renaudin Bollinger was founded in 1829 by Hennequin de Villermont, Paul Levieux Renaudin and Jacques Bollinger, yet early in the businesses life, it has been managed by the Bollinger family. Since the 1960s, solely Bollinger has appeared on the label. Bollinger has been inextricably linked to the British Royal Family, ever since receiving the Royal Warrant in 1884 from Queen Victoria. The Champagne is renowned as being a fuller, toasty style of Champagne given the high percentage of Pinot Noir used in all their Cuvees and in part due to significant lees contact. With their worldwide acclaim, not many people would contradict the immortal words of Lily Bollinger- “I drink it when I’m happy and when I’m sad. Sometimes I drink it when I’m alone. When I have company, I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I’m not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise, I never touch it—unless I’m thirsty.”

Otherwise, I never touch it-unless I'm thirsty." Wise words said by Lilly Bollinger, the great granddaughter-in-law of House of Bollinger founder Jacques Joseph, and head of the family firm from 1941-77.*

The warming cinnamon and nutmeg spice, coupled up with the vibrant energy of the red cherries, rose petals and wild strawberries make this rosé Champagne as close to a Moroccan rose garden at dusk, as it's possible to get. Just add a few wisps of shisha smoke, drifting over from the corner, where some elderly gentlemen ponder over a leisurely of chess, and you've pretty much conjured the tastes going on in this mesmeric, gentle and perfumed Champagne.
