Tasmania

Tasmania, a bit like the Isle of Wight of Australia, main differences being Loony Toons characters spin around down there and they make significantly better wine. The small island was one of the first regions of Australia to gain recognition, producers presented a wine at a Paris exhibition in 1848. Despite this early start, quality wine virtually disappeared until the 1950s. The island has a similar climate to Champagne and with wide spread plantings of both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Tasmania offers excellent Champagne style sparkling wine at a very agreeable price point. We apologise for the Tasmanian Devil reference earlier, it was far too obvious and we’ll endeavour to do better next time.
