The Oddbins Take

Minervois is a region that has been making wine as far back as the Romans and beyond. In fact, the name derives from the region's city, Minerve, which in turn takes its name from the Roman goddess Minerva. Minerva was the god of wisdom, poetry, arts and magic. As art and wisdom are synonymous with great wine, we (Oddbins Historical Research Department) believe Minervois was in high cahoots with her work colleague Dionysus. He was in charge of the God's celestial wine store. Although not documented we are certain they are responsible for ensuring the almost limitless production of robust spicy reds that has flowed out from this land ever since its Minervoisation. This red wine is from Minervois la Liviniere, a place the benevolent duo made sure always made the best wines in the area. Rich black cherry, black plums smothered in herbs and spices. So when you are fortunate enough to have a glass of this red- raise your chalice to the ancient wisdom of a Roman Goddess and her vinous partner in crime!

Domaine de Coudoulet is an estate located at the top of the small village of Cesseras, in the ancient wine making appellation Minervois, Languedoc, France. The property has been owned by the Ournac family since 1840 but until 1985 only sold their grapes to the local cooperative. However recognising their vines potential they have produced their own wines since. Under the recent guidance and production skills of Pierre-Andre Ournac, this estate has become highly acclaimed. Earning awards and a trophy at both the 2014 and 2015 Decanter World Wine Awards. This estate belongs to the part of Minervois that grows the finest quality grapes hence earning the local quality status of Grand Cru Minervois La Livinere.
