The Oddbins Take

This wine has some surprising parallels with the original Beat author, Jack Kerouac. Like Jack – or Jean-Louis as he was christened – Château Lauduc is Franco-American: matured in barrels that are half French, half American. We’d be lying if we said that this wine is a drug-induced stream-of-consciousness, but we can confidently say that it is a finely-judged, well-executed, great value Bordeaux.

The grapes are harvested mechanically at optimum maturity and, after cold maceration for three to four days, the wine is aged for 12 months; half in tanks, the other half in French and American barrels.

We understand that when you say ‘classic’, you mean classic. So that’s exactly what this is: two gleaming paragons of what Burgundy and Bordeaux should be. If this sounds a little old school, don’t worry: there's nothing fusty here. These wines have been chosen for their vibrancy as well as their respect for a traditional style.
