The Oddbins Take

A gorgeous place, Costières de Nîmes; the kind of place that makes you want to Google cheap flights to the south of France and wangle some lieu time at work and spend some time nibbling on local cheeses and sipping on lustrous, swarthy red wines. Well, whilst Serabel cannot deliver said lifestyle, it can certainly deliver the wine. Dripping with damson and black cherry fruit, and bristling with gorgeous peppery spice and a hint of vanilla pods, it’s a holiday in itself and cheaper, too, at just £7.25.

Cave de Monterail is a small and quality orientated negociant located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. They were founded in 1977 and are owned by Maison Picard.

By working on very low margins and having an exceptional wine making team, Cave de Monterail aim to offer the best possible value for money.

Fermentation took place at 20-22C and it underwent a two week maceration and underwent a six months’ oak aging.

Packed full of dark fruit flavours, with a hint of spice, it has fine-grained, smooth and velvety tannins, with a long finish.
