This wine – made from the region’s principle grape, Mencia, has plump yet posed red fruit that marries harmoniously with the subtle oak flavours from the French and American oak.

El Cayado emerges from the very heart of Bierzo and the grapes are selected from long-lived vines, hardened by Bierzo’s unique weather that gives them their distinctive character.

The wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged for two months in French and American oak, getting a perfect combination between the fruity Mencía character and the warmth and subtlety of the carefully-selected barrels.

"This 100% Mencía red Crianza is morello cherry red in colour with flecks of violet. It has an intense nose and aromas of red fruits predominate, with a subtle hint of toasted oak. It is elegant and balanced on the palate, with a very fruity finish. It can be paired with roast or stewed meats, small game, carpaccio, cured meat, pasta and goat’s cheese.
