The Oddbins Take

Can we admit something? We have something of a crush on Gerard Bertrand. It’s not just the gals either. The guys wouldn’t mind a bromance (or romance indeed) with Gerard and keenly admire his successful career in professional rugby. The girls, well… just type his name into Google image. The man is like a celestial being come down to bring happiness to the human race. And we haven’t even touched on this rosé, which is incredibly light and subtle, with red berry scents and a fresh and mineral finish. Oh, did we mention he won the prestigious title of European Winery of the Year 2011? Enchanté, Mr Bertrand…

Gerard Bertrand is an ex-rugby player who took over his father’s small winery in Corbières and now the company has grown into a highly respected French wine producer, making wine sustainably and garnering the prestigious title of European Winery of the Year 2011. Gerard’s aim is to produce high quality wines, showing the true terroir of the Tautavel area, between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees mountains.

The grapes are hand harvested and then pressed immediately. Fermentation takes place at low temperatures, from 15 to 18°C in stainless steel vats, under a protective carbonic gas atmosphere, which keeps the end wine incredibly fresh. The wine is then matured on the fine lees for several weeks, with a weekly pump over.

This is a delicious wine with an incredibly light, subtle pink hue. It boasts red berry scents with a fresh and mineral finish.
