The Oddbins Take

They Say

In their 18 year old, Glenfiddich use fine Spanish Oloroso wood and American oak to mature this rich, intriguingly fruity and robust oak expression. Every batch is individually numbered and carefully watched over. Each has extraordinary consistency and character from an intense marrying period, and a warming, distinguished finish. It has layers of cedar, baked apple and cinnamon flavours.

We Say

This whisky has a decidedly autumnal feel, with smoky flavours that combine with tart tatin-like sweet/sour notes, backed up with nutmeg and star anise. Alter Ego: Isaac Newton; without actually knocking you out with apples, this character will always be associated with this particular orchard fruit. We’re not sure if old Newton ever go the chance to make an apple pie with his fabled falling fruit, but if he had, and if he’d dusted it with cinnamon and nutmeg, he’d come quite near his whisky Alter Ego.
