The Oddbins Take

They Say

Glengoyne is distilled slower than any other single malt Scotch whisky making it a soft, subtle and complex dram. Malts are air dried so you'll find no peat here, just a delicate balance of smooth barley, baked apples and oaky spice. In his Whisky Bible 2008 Jim Murray says "Seriously chewy and textbook bittersweet balance. Incredibly long and defined for such a light malt. A little beauty. 90 points"

We Say

Alter Ego: Louis Armstrong; Perfect for the "High Society"; much-loved, innovative, deep, complex with loads of happy notes flying around. However slow it goes "we have all the time in the world" for it, because we've found nothing that can trumpet (geddit?).

Oz Clarke/Salvatore Calabrese in Cheers 11/13:
"Owned by Ian MacLeod distillers, one of Scotland's leading family-owned distillers, the Glengoyne distillery is situated in a wooded valley in the southern Highlands of Scotland, close to a small river that flows into the famous Loch Lomond. The idistillery, which takes its name from 'Glen Guin' or the Glen of the Wild Geese, has been producing exceptional single malt scotch whisky for nearly 200 years. / Like all Glengoyne malts, this is handcrafted from air-dried barley untainted by the harshness of peat smoke and aged in oak Sherry casks. Subtle yet deep and complex, it has a clean, smooth, warming, almost sweet taste, with delicate flavours of fresh green apples balanced by hints of almonds and liquorice yielding tot eh toffee-richness of Sherry oak."
