The Oddbins Take

Grab this Granite Ridge and get it on your granite worktop; this is a food loving superstar. If you've yet to try Chenin or have only tried super cheap mass market stuff then give this still modestly priced little fella a go. It will knock your socks off. With an utterly charming blend of soft ripe fruit and a lick of mouthwatering acidity, this will have you reaching for your apron, then stopping to savour, then reaching for your apron again to throw together one of many ideal food matches...

The Wine Gang, Report February 2014: "A simple, dry, honest white that has Chenin's refreshing, softly creamy, straw-like character and appealing acidity – two elements that make it food-friendly as well as being a good aperitif. Could come in useful at this price."
The vineyards are old bush vines planted in decomposed granite slopes in the Helderberg Mountain area of Stellenbosch. The wine is fermented entirely in stainless steel, before being kept on its lees for nine months. Occasional stirring helps to enhance the weight, freshness and texture of the finished wine.

"Putting together my favourite weekend wines is a particularly enjoyable task. I've selected 6 here that are the bottles I am currently enjoying when it's time to open up something special. Some of these - such as the Southern Right Pinotage and Portuguese FP Branco blend white - are truly unusual drops and some of our best discoveries this year"
