The Oddbins Take

The word Gufo is actually a two-syllable shortcut used by Italian barflies-in-hurry when asking for the classic white "Grecco di Tufo". Ok, jokes aside, it's actually not: but it is the name for this very good Italian white that could be secretly dreaming of being Grecco or something similarly auspicious. This little number is medium-bodied, fresh, fragrant and floral; and only 12% alcohol. Go for a Gufo!

Cantina Tollo was established in 1960 by a group of vignerons in the Abruzzo region. Its 1,200 current members offer the co-operative almost 3,500 hectares of vineyards to draw on, largely in southern Abruzzo around Chieti where the hills between the sea and the Apennines provide ideal vineyard conditions. The Trebbiano and Chardonnay grapes are pressed and fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel. The wine is then rested for three months before bottling.
