The Oddbins Take

They Say

Prior to the Single Bottle Act, introduced by the then Chancellor William Gladstone in 1861, gin was stored in and served direct from the barrel. This imparted fuller flavours and even light tannins. This is the style that Hayman's were aiming to recreate with the 1850 Reserve, which was 'rested' for three to four weeks in a variety of casks. The result is a mellow gin, with a strong juniper backbone and fresh citrus aromas.

We Say

A very classic, historic style of London Dry Gin. Alter Ego: Michael Caine; about as London as it's possible to get, short of donning a cap and yelling "Cor blimey guv'na"! However, unlike Michael, Hayman's 1850 is all the more brilliant for its gently wooden performance.

House and Garden 9/12/13: "[Hayman's] is a full-bodied gin which, unusually, is rested in Scotch whisky barrels for three or four weeks to give mellowness and depth"
Haymans 1850 Reserve Gin brings a touch of classics to the table with a Gin that wouldnt look out of place in the Gin Palaces of the 1850's
