The Oddbins Take

When this wine arrived we were a little bit worried by what appeared to be a blood splattered label. So we bagged up the evidence and sent it over to our forensic department, CSI Oddbins. After conducting all kinds of ludicrous and clearly made-up science, they concluded… 1) it is just a fancy artistic expression of a vine, 2) there is no evidence of a crime having been committed and 3) the wine is delicious. They drank the lot with a beef tagine cooked over their Bunsen burners. Science!

Tom Bruce-Gardyne in The Herald Scotland, 31/1/15: "A succulent blend from the French Pyrenees, with syrah providing sweet spice to complement the dense, red fruit of grenache."
Mas Janeil was founded in 1996 by Francois Lurton of Bordeaux. This is his second, but no-less-wonderful, wine. Harvested from 15 year old vines grown on chalky-clay soil at Maury on the slopes of the Pyrenées Orientales, this is has a concentrated nose of black cherry, spice, vanilla and cinnamon, followed by dense tannins and lots of black fruit on the finish. It would be a great match for black olives, beef tagine, sausages or barbeques.
