The Oddbins Take

Jansz vineyard hand harvests seperately, keeping the fruit in individual batches. Each batch is then handled gently and fermented in select barrels.

This vintage cuvee is a pale gold in colour, boasting scents of lemon curd, white flowers and fresh cream. Flavours of rose petals and candied lemon peel shine through on the palate, alongside roasted hazelnut and cashews showcasing its power and elegance.

The name Jansz pays homage to Tasmania’s namesake, the Dutch explorer Abel Jansz Tasman who was the first European to sight the island in 1642. The area’s likeness to Champagne and Burgundy initially captured the attention of Heemskerk Wines and Champagne house Louis Roederer in 1982.

Together they embarked on the production of a premium vintage Australian Sparkling Wine. Although now owned by the Hill-Smith family, the head of Louis Roederer, Jean-Claude Rouzard, was personally involved in establishing the vineyard, planting classic varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The ultra-cool growing conditions saw these grapes ripen slowly, developing intense, delicate and refined flavours.
