The Oddbins Take

***Bronze at the International Wine Challenge 2015***

A casual glance down the list of the prominent names of Champagne will, before long, reveal Laurent-Perrier as one of the leading lights. With its impeccable credentials Laurent Perrier is an instantly recognisable byword for quality and its non-vintage expression is testament to that. It is delicate yet complex, fresh yet well-balanced, with charming jasmine, lemon rose notes. Its name precedes it and its quality is preceded by few.

Jane MacQuitty in The Times, 26/12/15: "This fine, appley, lemon brioche-stashed, chardonnay-dominant non-vintage Brut is a gem."
Laurent-Perrier was the first Champagne House to reintroduce the concept of brut nature champagne, with its Laurent-Perrier Ultra Brut. Laurent-Perrier was also the driver of the rosé revolution, with its unique Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut, first launched in 1968.

The art of turning these grapes into Champagne falls into the safe hands of Cellar Master Michel Fauconnet. Michel first joined Laurent-Perrier in August 1973 doing work experience in the cellars after getting a certificate in agricultural engineering. Working his way up the ladder, Michel was promoted to technical staff in 1980, then a year later he received the accolade of 'Chef de Cercle' and was responsible for Laurent-Perrier's winery and the fermentation process of all of Laurent-Perrier's wines. His professional progress in production led him to become Production Director and Chef de Cave, or Cellar Master, in February 2004.

With its composition marked by a high percentage of Chardonnay, Laurent-Perrier Brut is the signature House style, offering freshness, lightness and elegance, consistently showcasing the essential qualities sought by Laurent-Perrier. It is made from a blend of base wines sourced from more than fifty-five individual ‘crus’ (or villages) and also reserve wines from previous years.
