The Oddbins Take

According to the producers, Marieta is the first semi-dry Albariño ever tasted in the DO Rías Baixas. We cannot categorically confirm the accuracy of this assertion, but what we do know is, we bloomin’ love the stuff. Bright lemon/green in colour, Marieta has a uniquely fruity aroma, with flashes of peach, red apple and melon, as well as nuances of lemony citrus fruit. On the palate it is tenaciously persistent, with a freshness that verges on effervescent. Despite its semi-dry status, Marieta’s sweetness is balanced by concentrated citrus flavours, so it actually seems dry. After all that! Well we never.

Made by Martín Códax; the same people who make the very popular Burgans Albariño. This is an off dry/semi-seco Albariño, with a tiny bit of residual sugar that just takes the edge off the high acidity of Albariño. The producers claim that Marieta is the first semi dry Albariño ever tasted in the DO Rías Baixas.

The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted into 20 kg crates. Clusters are de-stemmed and pressed and alcoholic fermentation takes place at 16-18 ° C, in stainless steel vats. The wine is stabilised by cooling and the wine is finally filtered before bottling.

Bright straw-yellow green in colour, with a touch of lemon, Marieta has a uniquely fruity aroma, highlighting hints of peach, ripe apple and melon, as well as nuances of lemony citrus fruit. On the palate it is very persistent, rounded and full-bodied with a slight bubble tip that gives the wine an impressive sense of freshness. The aftertaste is fully rounded with juicy and citrus fruit flavours. It has 14g/l of residual sugar.
