The Oddbins Take

A wine that Mother Earth herself would be happy to promote. Your conscience can enjoy bonus points, as every last drop is organic and hasn’t given planet earth much grief at all.

So why not go with the flow and fully embrace this wine by kicking off those shoes, letting your hair down and digging those toes deep into the cool earth. Ooh that feels good!

Or, if that doesn’t take your fancy, just crack open the wine and let its swarthy, peppery goodness invigorate your senses.

‘Living in harmony with raw and wild nature, understanding… the land” is the philosophy of Jean Gardiès, who produces organic wines of great finesse, which truly express the terroir. Mas Las Cabes is a 15-hectare vineyard and was bought by the Gardiés family in 1990.

Near the village of Espira de l’Agly, in Roussillon, the winery is situated on decomposed black schists and Mediterranean grape varieties are grown in organic production.

The wine underwent 21 days’ traditional maceration, matured for eight months, 1/3 in oak barrels and 2/3 in concrete tanks.

It has an intense garnet robe with purple reflections, a complex nose of violet, liquorice and olive notes. On the palate, the wine goes down smoothly and is generous and fresh, with very soft tannins and pure fruit notes.
