The Oddbins Take

Conjure the image, if you will, of a long, oak table in a conservatory in Venice. It's after dinner, the table is laden with bowls of plums, cherries and raspberries, and a steaming cafetiere of Kenyan coffee is giving off aromas that are teasing your nose. Vivaldi is playing in the background whilst beautiful children are playing in the garden outside. Are you there? Good, because this is pretty much what you get when you tuck into this Italian beauty. Bellissima!

South of Brindisi you’ll find the Salento peninsula extending towards Albania and Greece, it’s Italy's easternmost point. The finest wines are produced on soil that has a calcareous base. Though the climate is hot it is cooled by breezes coming off the Adriatic and Ionian seas. Cantina Terre di Sava was established in 2008 by a group of wine lovers who joined forces to rescue a treasured winery from financial difficulties. The investors knew the heritage and potential of this unique land and were able to capitalise on the best aspects of the terroir to produce wonderful wines.

The air is crisp, the leaves are turning and a mysterious ambience seems to fill the air. Whether you’re seeking refuge from the shambolically-dressed hobgoblins and witches lurking at your door, venturing out to a gathering, or looking for a little vinous warmth to hug around the bonfire, this case will set you up good and proper. Just make sure you’ve a pumpkin in the window and a steak on the table (and a stake around your neck…)
