Paseo is made by Casa Santos Lima, who also produce the popular Quinta Bons Ventos, and is made with local grape varieties Arinto, Fernao Pires, Vital Rabo de Ovelha, as well as Chardonnay.
Bright lemon in colour, it is very aromatic, with zesty lemon and lime notes combined with tropical fruits and some green apple hints. It is a very balanced wine, with good structure and refreshing acidity.
Very pale yellow color. Floral citrus, grassy herb and watery stone on the nose with a faint tropical aroma. Citrus and tropical fruit on the palate, which is broadly dry across the tongue. The mid-palate sweetens a bit, emphasizing citrus, followed by a nice combo of gentle acidity & mineral. The finish dries out a bit and the grassy character joins the fruit, with consistent mineral. In fact, it’s kind of like a heartier Vinho Verde. I like a bit more “zing” in my white wines, but the pillowy body of this wine has its appeal. It’s enjoyable, a bit different and certainly a nice find for such a price.
