The Oddbins Take

St. Laurent, aka St. Lawrence of Rome, became the patron Saint of the poor and the sick. Having distributed the wealth of the church among the needy, informing the powers that be that only in the dispossessed could the real value of the church be found. In return for this observation, on August 10th 258 AD, he was roasted to death on a gridiron!

The story goes that half way through, he called out "I'm done on this side, I need turning," which also earned him the patronage of cooks and chefs. The grape named in his honour was traditionally thought to start ripening on his celebration day, and it makes mouthwatering, delicately aromatic, tobacco and dark fruit tinged beauties like this.
