The Oddbins Take

Good old Pol Roger! The noblest of the Champagne houses and one of the region's elder statesmen. The consistent class and finesse of this rich and complex standard bearer makes it very much the brand of choice for those in the know. Were you to present this bottle to discerning company: say a wine expert, an aristocrat, or the dear old Brigadier General, you're bound to be accepted as an esteemed guest. If not you should leave immediately, taking the bottle with you.

Decanter, July 2015: "Ripe, elegant and balanced. Hazelnut and peachy charm from a sunny 2009 base."

David Williams in The Observer Food Monthly, 15/11/15: "I share Churchill's high opinion of Pol Roger: whether it's the majestic prestige cuvee named after the ex-PM, the rich toasty current vintage release, or the reliably delightful, non-vintage blend."

Established by the eighteen year old Pol Roger in 1849, today the champagne house remains proudly independent, owned and run by his descendants. The Brut Réserve is assembled from thirty base wines drawn from at least two vintages. The champagne available in the UK receives an additional six months bottle-ageing in the Epernay cellars.
