The Oddbins Take

In sci-fi films, portals always take people to scary worlds inhabited by monsters or back in time to catastrophically alter their own futures. The Portal da Águia Branco is a different kind of portal. A sip of this floral, fruity and zippy little number instantly transports you to the Portuguese coast. There you can go swimming in the sea beneath the hot sun, then lie out on a bougainvillea-clad veranda to dry off and eat freshly picked mussels with homemade skinny chips and a glass of this. Disclaimer: portal transportation is purely metaphorical.

Portal da Águia means Eagle's Gate, which is the main entrance to Quinta da Alorna. Quinta da Alorna was established in 1723, by Dom Pedro de Almeida, the first Marques de Alorna, who gave his name to the property following the conquest of Fort Alorna in India. The vineyards are located in the centre of Portugal, near Santarém, in the Tejo Region and are the largest in the region.
