Grüner Veltliner 'Obere Steigen' Huber

The Traisental is a region that has Wachau and Kremstal abutting it on its western edge, and is predominantly planted with Grüner Veltliner. The name of this cuvée, 'obere steigen' means upper slopes and refers to the plot of vines that the grapes for this wine was sourced from.

Tasting Notes : The nose displays typical Grüner spiciness with plenty of white pepper plus some juicy pear aromas. The palate is dry and fresh with crisp green apples flavours paired with crunchy pineapple and a hint of basil.

Method of Production : The grapes were destemmed, crushed and cold macerated briefly for six hours, after which the juice was pressed off and fermented in stainless steel tanks at 18°C using the naturally occurring yeasts. The wine was then allowed to remain in contact with its lees, still in tank, for a further three months prior to being fined and bottled.

Beautiful

Bought this as I read the grape variety was under valued in this country and boy were they right. Brilliant with the Asian food we had but, amazingly, better with the chocolate dessert ! Creamy on the palate with just a hint of fruit on the nose. Recommended highly.
