Coteaux du Giennois (previously known as Cotes de Gien) is a region hugging the Loire river, just to the just north of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. The Etienne de Loury label is used by Henri de Bourgeois to name wines that are made from his uncle's property. Henri was put in control of these vines and vinifies them separately to his own estate. As a result they have their own character but the standard is most definitely of the Bourgeois level - superlative.

Tasting Notes : The lively nose has aromas of freshly cut herbs and citrus fruits. The palate too has a grassy streak, but also shows plenty of lemon peel, grapefruit and mineral notes.

Method of Production : The grapes were sourced from the estate's own vineyards - a combination of clay and chalk soils and steep, south-facing slopes produced fruit rich in flavour and complexity. After pressing as whole bunches, the juice was allowed to clear by settling before it was fermented with the yeasts which naturally occur on the grape skins. The wine rested on the yeast lees following fermentation, gaining a rich, creamy mouthfeel as a result.
