Porcupine Collection Syrah Grenache

This wine was made exclusively for Oddbins. The Syrah grapes were sourced form a dry-land vineyard in the Swartland. The Grenache comes from an old bush-vine vineyard on top of the Piekernierskloof which measures 550m abovesea level in overlooking the Citrusdal valley. After alcoholic fermentationthe Grenache was blended to the Syrah before spending 18 month in French oak barriques. Only 20 barriques were selected and bottled for this delicious elixir!
Tasting Notes : Elegant viloet and perfume flavours dominate this blend. The palate takes on more spicy peppery note. This wine is more elegant and linear with smooth structural tannins.
Method of Production : Both vineyards are dryland. The Syrah is trellised whereas the Grenache arebushvines planted in 1966. The Syrah grapes are sourced in Malamesbury in the Swartland and the Grenache comes form the Pikenierskloof in Citrusdal. Grapes were fermented in concrete fermenters by the native yeasts occuring naturally on the grapes. After primary fermentation and pressing the wine was blended and moved into seasoned 225l french barriques. Maturing for 18 month the wine was racked; egg-white fined before being bottled.
