Tandem 'Ars Nova'
Product Code:
Ars Nova in Latin means 'new art' and was a musical movement accredited to Frenchmen Philippe De Vitry in the 14th century. This new music, opposed to the music of earlier generations, was more complex, marked by richer harmonies and rhythm and characterised by new conventions in notation. It was the arrival of polyphony, and can be compared to the arrival of perspective to painting. In a similar way, Tandem's wine utilises three grape varieties plus new oak ageing to produce multifaceted depth and harmony.
Tasting Notes : The nose shows ripe, dark fruits, liquorice, bush and wet moss. On the palate it is full-bodied and expressive with hints of minerality drifting between red cherries, blueberries and roasted nuts. The finish is long and fresh.
Producer : Tandem
Method of Production : Grapes from the single Vizcardaña vineyard were destemmed and then cold macerated for three days. Fermentation occurred over 15 days in stainless steel tanks with daily punching down of the cap. The wines were then racked to concrete-epoxy tanks where they went through malolactic conversion before being transferred to 300l French oak barrels for five month's maturation. After the final cuvée was blended, it was gently filtered and bottled.
