Method of Production : Dr L is made from a mixture of grapes; some are left over from Dr Loosen's pradikat-level wines and some are sourced from contracted growers with whom they work closely to ensure excellent quality and concentration in every vintage.

Eye-opener

Whose memories of German wine were born in the 70s and 80s? Blue Nun, sweet and flaccid liebfraumilch etc, etc? Mine too. So this (entry level) Riesling was a revelation: the initial apparent slight sweetness (still arguably less than many Alsaxe offerings these days as another reviewer has observed) is swept away by a refreshing crisp, minerality. Serious value for money and only 8.5% abv so your wallet and your liver will both be happy. Nice one Oddbins - welcome back!

Dr L Riesling 2004(?)

Hard to beat hot weather tipple, light up that barbecue and pour yourself a cold glass of this gem to enjoy the last word on perfect sunny evenings. BUT... the '04 is definitely perkier than the '05 and so i was disappointed to receive a box of the younger after submitting an order via this page for what is presented as the (really quite special at this price) '04. Maybe they've run out of the better stuff... 4 stars for the '04 - 3 stars for the '05

Quite simply unbeatable for refreshing summer afternoon drinking. It's crisp, superbly well balanced and with just a touch of sweetness that should make some more expensive Alsatian efforts blush with shame. Buy it!
