Jurançon was one of the earliest Appellation Contrôlées of France and locals claim it was also the first attempt at vineyard classification. The vineyards cover 1,000 ha to the south of the city of Pau, mostly on a clay-limestone soil.
Tasting Notes : Bright, straw colour, with acacia and toast aromas. A full, elegant wine with flavours of grapefruit and mango, a nice balance of acidity and minerality with a spicy note on the finish.
Producer : Castel Freres
Method of Production : All the grapes are hand-harvested and vinified in low temperatures in stainless steel tanks with no oak ageing in order to preserve the rich aromatic qualities of the grape.
