This innovative blend of Primitivo and Aglianico - a rare red Italian grape variety renowned for its muscat aromas - is a wonderful challenge for the senses, combining structure and fruit with leathery yet light notes.

Tasting Notes : Super-concentrated on the nose, with violet-tinged black fruits and a very dense aromatic quality. Sweet and creamy fruits abound on the palate, with a leathery concentration and grippy finish.

Method of Production : The Primitivo grapes were harvested 15 days before the Aglianico, and therefore fermented separately (but similarly) before blending - the pressed grapes macerating on their skins before fermenting in stainless steel temperature controlled tanks for 15 days. Afterwards, micro-oxygenation in a specially designed device was used to open up the wine. 20% of the wine matured in oak for six months and the rest for a year in tanks.

Excellent. A fun wine with fruity tastes

Good. I'm not a huge Primitivo/Zinfandel fan, but the Aglianico moderates the sweet Zinfandel intensity and gives it a slightly rustic herbal flavour. It has a bit more acidity than its North American cousins, so works well with food. 3.5 stars.
