The Oddbins Take

Thrill seeker? Adrenaline junkie? Wine connoisseur? Sounds like Mendoza might just be the place for you. What with its skiing, hiking and wine tours, it’s thirsty work just thinking about it. So why not try something that mimics the excitement of Mendoza with a beautifully complex Cabernet Franc?

Deep ruby in colour with an intense aroma of roasted pepper and eucalyptus leaves, it’s as smooth as a pro-skier on deep powder and as gripping as a hiker’s hold on an overhang. A uniquely Argentinian ride.

The Pulenta family have been involved in the Argentine viticulture for three generations. Sons of the well-known vinegrower Antonio Pulenta and descendants from Italian immigrants, Eduardo and Hugo Pulenta, gave birth to this winery in 2002, providing experience and the most qualified labour.

Their philosophy is to achieve the best quality in their products and to maintain exclusive production and permanent care throughout.

The vineyard was planted in 1992 and is situated in the prized Alto Agrelo region of Mendoza at 980 metres above sea level. The grapes were harvested around the end of April by hand into small plastic buckets before being transferred to the winery for sorting. The selected grapes are then cold macerated for 2 days followed by fermentation for 3 weeks in inox tanks. The wine is then aged for 18 months in new French barrels.

Would be the perfcet accompaniment to any traditional BBQ, roast meat or sirloin steaks.
