The Oddbins Take

Rasteau is a village in the southern Rhone, where either life is particularly hard, or they just like to have a good time. One way or another they like a wine with a bit of oomph. Best known for fortified wines, they also produce lush reds that need no fortification to scale the heady heights of 15% by volume. A bit of a beast you might think, but not at all – or at least if it is, it’s a very civilized beast. Perhaps not exactly a wolf in sheep’s clothing, maybe more of a wolf in the natty threads of a well groomed and immaculately behaved pedigree wolf hound.
