The Oddbins Take

This Pinot Noir is hand harvested from vines aged between 55 to 86 years old, sorted to ensure only the best berries make it through to the production. Matured in demi-muid barrels to maintain the fresh fruit, exclusive to the Roche de Bellene vineyard.

The finished product is rich with flavours of black fruit and lavender on the nose, which continues onto the palate with bursts of blackcurrant. Refreshing black fruit to finish.

M W Richard Hemming in Living France on 01/04/2017 - "Classic red Burgundy doesn't come cheap ‐ but it is totally worth the premium for a good one. Maison Roche de Bellene is a very reliable name in the region, and their Bourgogne rouge comes from vines that are at least 50 years old. The theory goes that older vines produce more concentrated and complex wines ‐ and its enchanting raspberry fruit with hints ‐ of menthol and herbs certainly delivers."
.Hard Harvested. Vines aged from 55 to 86 years old. Bunched as sorted in the vineyard and then winery to ensure only the best berries go nto the crush. The key to maintaining the fresh fruit is maturing in demi-muid, which are large (600litre) barrels that are made especially for us. The wine stays in barrel on the fine lees for 12 months to give a density and depth of flavour.
