The Oddbins Take

1976; what a year. The first commercial Concorde flight, Microsoft and Apple were created, Viking 1 landed on Mars, "Rocky" won best picture, Olympic legend Chris Hoy was born (however so was Sabrina, The Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart) and the cracking Salice Salentino wines from Puglia received DOC status. It was a lot to pack in, but it was a leap year so we guess they had an extra day. Relive ’76 with a glass of Oddbins exclusive Terre di Sava’s “Nero” Salice Salentino and a bit of Bohemian Rhapsody.

South of Brindisi you’ll find the Salento peninsula extending towards Albania and Greece, it’s Italy's easternmost point. The finest wines are produced on soil that has a red ona calcareous base. Though the climate is hot it is cooled by breezes coming off the Adriatic and Ionian seas. Cantina Terre di Sava was established in 2008 by a group of wine lovers who joined forces to rescue a treasured winery from financial difficulties. The investors knew the heritage and potential of this unique land and were able to capitalise on the best aspects of the terroir to produce wonderful wines.
