‘Tis a lovely thing when somebody takes a look at their life and their true priorities and decides to follow their heart. Well, this is exactly what businessman Giancarlo Ruffo at the start of the century, ditching is city life for the gentle slopes of Val d’Illasi. After settling in to his pastoral surroundings, he planted some vines and began his slow, steady journey to winemaking brilliance. This full-bodied sparkler, made using the traditional techniques used in Champagne, conjures up the bucolic life, with its rich, hazy yet fresh aromas and is balanced out by zippy citrus fruit. You can tell this man is in love with his work, and his surroundings.

Val d’Illasi with its gently slopes is a rich and generous land. Former businessman Giancarlo Ruffo loves country life has always been attracted by this area. In the beginning he chose it to have a place to go with his family outside from the city, but later on he decided to plant his first vines. He was driven to set up Tenuta Chiccheri by a passion for nature and its product, his taste for the good wine produced in this region, his interest for new challenges. In just a few years wines from Tenuta Chiccheri have made their name known and they can be found in many restaurants in Italy and other countries.

Tenuta Chiccheri insists its vines are of a high quality and the wine-making is of a high standard. In order for to make premium wines Tenuta Chiccheri believes the quality of its wines must be evident in all phases of our wine production, from the equipment, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, all the way up to delivery to the customer.

In the beginning he just made Valpolicella, Valpolicella Superiore and Amarone and now he also makes Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso and Spumante Brut Metodo Classico.

The Chardonnay was vinified, then re-fermented on yeasts in the bottle for 18-24 months. It is fruity, full-bodied, fresh and intense.
