Rick was never really a fan of glam rock, but the idea behind the title of Episode 6 originates from David Bowie's seminal album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars'. On the lookout for some new wines to liberate, Rick took up an offer from his former GP, Rijk Melck, to visit Muratie, the family wine farm.

Passing through the cellar door at Muratie is like stepping back in time and the place has not seen a duster in a very long time. It's a paradise for spiders.

The wine that Rijk is anxious to introduce Rick to is a Cape White Blend, an erogenous mix of five varieties cleverly combined to produce a fabolously well-balanced wine, packed with richness and complexity. Some say that The Liberator conjures up images of a disguised, cloaked superhero, charging around the Winelands rescuing bottles in distress. But I'm no Superman. I'm just plain Rick: a Cape Crusader, perhaps, but one where cloaks are exchanged for a rather tatty Harris Tweed jacket and any superhuman powers are substituted by a supposedly blessed palate.
