The Oddbins Take

Made from very old vines (80-100 years old) in ancient vineyards, super intense, with complex fruit that is softened by gentle oak ageing, this is one of Spain's bargain buys. Call us greedy, but we know when we’re onto a good thing, so this wine is exclusive to us. But we’re not so greedy that we won’t share it with you, dearest customer. For what’s ours is yours (well, for a modest price) and we want you to enjoy this wine’s powerful red cherry and violet goodness as much as we have.

Bodegas Torremorón, located in Quintanamanvirgo, was born in 1957 and today there are 126 members who contribute grapes for making wine that is the sum of the effort of an entire village. 260 hectares of owned vineyards are situated at an average of 800 meters above sea level, located in the Ribera del Duero in the municipalities of Quintanamanvirgo, Roa, Boada, and Guzman Anguix.

Winemaker Fernando Gubia Cerezo was born in 1975. An agricultural engineer with a degree in oenology, has has worked at different wineries in the Ribera del Duero region (Uvaguilera SL, Bodegas Arrocal SL, Abadia de Acon SL. He has been working for Bodegas Torremorón SC for four years.

The grapes underwent controlled fermentation for 7-10 days, at temperatures below 28C, followed by 18 days of maceration. Malolactic fermentation then took place in stainless steel tanks before the wine was put in to barrels to age for six months.

An intense maroon colour, with violet shades, it has a nose of red fruits with subtle oak in the background. A very well-structured wine, it has compelling fruits of red cherry, damson and violets.
