The Oddbins Take

When you learn that Montrachet unappealingly means “Scabby Hill”, it teaches you that the vino must be pretty impressive for it to have become one of the world’s most famous wines. Taste this and you’ll see why. Barrel fermented and aged in concrete (good concrete), this is a lean and steely mix of citrus, toast, spice, blossom and even a touch of exotic fruit that will expand with age. Forget about Champagnes, if you want to show some real class, go with Champs Gains.

Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens-Heynan moved to the Burgundy region in 1976 and spent time learning about the French and wine in order to gain knowledge and experience within the industry. After only 3 years they were able to purchase a couple of vine parcels on the hills of Pierreclos, picking up the art of growing wine almost effortlessly.
