The Oddbins Take

The ABC (Anything But Chardonnay) notion which began to gather steam a few years ago is at best misleading. The problem wasn't with Chardonnay per se, rather with Bad Chardonnay, but ABBC just doesn't work somehow.

Perhaps Banish Bad Chardonnay might have conveyed a clearer idea while giving good acronym. In fact, give me half an hour and I'll have one for "embrace beautiful, Burgundy-styled German Chardonnay, meticulously oaked to retain a breathtaking balance of bite and depth." Or just open the bottle and make one up for yourself.

Weingut Wageck Pfaffman takes its name from Wilhelm Wageck, who launched the winery in 1900. It is now under the control of Frank and Thomas Pfaffmanm Wageck's great-grandsons, both of whom studied winemaking in Geisenheim and who take charge of white and red wine respectively.
