Sancerre like this one is a guaranteed win. A classic French white style and an instant solution to a whole host of vinous problems - always worth having on hand as a good standby for any unexpected "occasion". Lean and clean, restrained and flinty, this is elegance itself. There's plenty of grapefruit and racy acidity with a delicious cold-spring finish. If you've been New Worlding it for a while, this is a good reason to ring the changes. >!!
Rene Carroi will go down in the history of Sancerre as a man of the soil, who successfully established 10 hectares of the finest vineyard parcels in a single block. The best vines make the best wines, and to an even greater extent in Sancerre, where the subtle, highly specific character of the wine results from the unison of Sauvignon Blanc and the flinty rock on which it is grown.
