Online Exclusive Wine

The canny team at Oddbins.com have managed to snaffle away some of their favourite wines in the Oddbins range to keep exclusively for you lucky people. Think of this web page as a kind of exclusive club, just without the membership fee, the green leather sofas or the snooty doormen. No, this an Oddbins Club and there be no snootiness here, only delectable offerings such as the dazzlingly fresh Riesling Kitterlé, made on the vertiginous slopes it is named after, or the refined, redcurrant and cedar-imbued Château Haut-Caillou. Mum’s the word, though… *touches nose pointedly*

No matter how rugged someone thinks they are- everyone wants to hide under a favourite blanket at some point. This Côtes du Rhône is the red wine equivalent. Juicy red berry fruits knit together with tummy warming spices. Woven from Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre this red wine duvet is completely unfiltered, giving it an extra silky texture. A perfect tipple with friends or when you're feeling 'Rhônely'...ahem.

We get a similar feeling from sipping on this wine as we do from watching an episode of Inspector Montalbano.

With sun-ripened, juicy flavours of cherries, raspberries and redcurrants, it conjures up images of hazy Italian days and, with its hint of leather and spice from its oak ageing, you feel you could almost be on the back of a Vespa with Montalbano. Happy days.

However, unlike Montalbano, there isn't a hint of cheese (although it would probably work quite well with a good slab of Taleggio).
  3. Château Guilhem Prestige AOC Malepère Rosé 2014

This wine is a serendipitous find for Oddbins and a lovely drop it is too. It is the sister wine to Château Guilhem Cuvée Prestige Rouge, which was suggested to us via The Listing (where you can recommend wines for us to stock that you have discovered on holiday). Where the Prestige Rouge is full-on and chocolatey, the rosé is a delicate flower, with aromas of rose hip, wild strawberries and white peaches. Made entirely organically, this is an all-natural discovery. Happy days.

Addressing ourselves to the obscure Lledoner Pelut grape that makes up most of this wine* In the words of David Bowie, 'Little wonder / You little wonder, you'. Seriously though, where have you been all our lives? Everybody knows and loves your cousin, Grenache, but why you've had your light under a bushel for so long, we don't know. With your soft, downy skin, petite body and capacity to make darkly spicy, juicy belters like this, we want more of you in our lives.
