German Wines

We love Germans. Wir lieben Deutschen. We love their beer, their sausages, their cake, their financial prudence and their economic savvy, but most of all we love their wine. We'd even go as far as to say that they produce what is probably the most underrated wine in the world.

German wines are devilishly complicated and the labels are almost incomprehensible. The Germans have a saying "probieren geht über studieren", which means that "trying is better than studying", and you'd be hard pushed to find a saying that is more applicable to their wines. You could spend years learning every little vineyard and wine law detail, but it is still opening a bottle and trying it that will determine whether you like it or not. Therefore, our advice is to give them a go and if you are still apprehensive, remember that we've got your back.

German winemakers have worked out that tradition and the reputation of sweet, mass-produced Hock and Liebfraumilch still blights them here in Blighty. Thus, there are loads of incredible drier style whites and modern winemaking initiatives emerging. And that is what we have sourced for you. So, put any prejudices aside and ask yourself, what would The Hoff do? That's right, break down barriers (let's call it a metaphorical wall) and embrace Germany like the hero that you are.
