It was that old cad, Hannibal Lector, who told Clarice that he 'ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti' in The Silence of the Lambs. So we suggest that a far more reasonable food match for this velvety, cherry-laden, supple red wine would be a simple tomato and fresh basil spaghetti dish. Lovely.

What we're saying is, stick to a vegetarian dish, because Hannibal has kinda ruined meat matches with Chianti. The cad.

This is one for Tony. No not Tony Montana. Nooo, not Tony Benn. Tony Robinson! Time Team Tony! Yes this one hails from a property that is strewn with the ruins of the Château that gave its name to the estate and we get the feeling that our Tony would just LOVE a rummage in the grounds. And when he and his mate with the ginger hair (and the quite frankly brilliant accent) grew tired, they would enjoy a drop of this accessible, full style of Bordeaux, no doubt. With its impressive fruit it's immediately pleasing but it brings the complexity and nuance you'd expect to go hand in hand with an eventful and lengthy pedigree.

Remember the Tim Burton films? From Beetle Juice (clearly the best) to Willy Wonka and Corpse Bride, Mr Burton is the Master of Darkness and we think he'd approve of our next wine. It looks like it could be a prop off of one of his sets, with the creepy black and white face looking like Beetle Juice himself.

Childhood traumas aside, this little number might just attach a more pleasant connotation to the twisted world of Tim Burton. Boasting a tantalizing perfume of dark dusky cherry, it is laced with violet and smoky nuances, yum!

  4. Red Boar Bobal Spanish Red Wine

*SNORT. GRUNT ... WOBBLY CANTER* Where are they? Where 'ave those berries gone? AH. There they are. *NOM NOM NOM* ... Meet Red Boar. He's a lively, happy-go-lucky boar from Galicia who boasts strong, earthy, berry and vegetal aromas, has a stout structure and is very likeable.
Although it absolutely loves truffles, Red Boar wine is more of an everyday kind of character and would be more than content with something simple, rustled up midweek. *OINK*
