The Oddbins Take

They Say

The Yamazaki 12 Year Old is another great example of the fantastically complex yet subtle Japanese whiskies that Suntory distilleries are so famous for. Buttery and succulent, it boasts an abundance of soft fruits with aromas of peach, pineapple, grapefruit and candied orange, balanced out with clove, vanilla and Mizunara (Japanese oak). Flavours of coconut and cranberry come through on the palate, followed by sweet ginger and cinnamon during the long finish.

We Say

This Japanese malt started its existence as a rounded and delicate character which over time has become more intense, confident and elegant.

The Suntory Yamazaki Distillery, est. 1923, is the first and oldest whisky distillery in Japan. Built on the outskirts of Kyoto, the distillery belongs to a region formerly referred to as “Minaseno”, where one of Japan’s purest and softest waters originates. The vast array in the region’s temperature and humidity provides the ideal conditions for cask aging, known as the signature “Suntory Maturation”.
