Ron Zacapa is a unique rum, made in the highlands of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, at 2,300 metres above sea level. Here in the mountains, the cool temperature slows the ageing process, while the thinner air and lower atmospheric pressure helps intensify the infusion of flavours from the barrels. They use a unique Sistema Solera, based on a Spanish tradition developed over 500 years ago to age sherry. Whereas most rums use molasses as their base, Zacapa uses only the concentrated first press of sugar cane, known as virgin sugar cane honey, to impart a smoother, sweeter flavour.
Made in The House Above the Clouds in the mountains of Guatemala, Ron Zacapa is rich and chocolaty, with flavours of caramel, molasses, coconut and dried banana flavours. Alter Ego: the Greek oracle, Dodona; a portal to another more mystical, divine place, it is both timeless and steeped in tradition and will blow your mind with its otherworldly qualities. Revered by many for generations, this is a rum to be reckoned with.
