The Oddbins Take

It's unfortunate that when you share qualities with someone in your field with significant renown, comparisons are unavoidable. Like when people say Timothée Chalamet might be the next Leonardo Di Caprio. Timothée is a wonderful actor in his own right, he doesn’t need the pressure of being compared to Di Caprio, in fact it was probably that insecurity that led to Interstellar being so underwhelming.

It is a cross that Aglianico must also carry, given its incredibly full body, savoury character and extreme age-ability it’s perhaps not surprising that it has been dubbed the ‘Barolo of the South.’ There are clear similarities, however when sipping on Pipoli Aglianico del Vulture, it’s obvious this wine has virtues and nuances that are all its own. Layered and highly complex flavours of forest berries, violets, cocoa and leather rest on a full body and lively acidity that keeps this wine from feeling too weighty, continuing to a bold and persistently fruity finish. Aglianico: the Timothée Chalamet of the south!
