The Oddbins Take

They Say

The legendary Octomore, named after a former distillery above Port Charlotte that created heavily whisky, has taken the world by storm. It was born after Bruichladdich asked ‘What if we distilled the most heavily-peated barley humanly possible, in the tall, narrow-necked Bruichladdich stills?’ and the result is incredible. It has fantastic, dense smoke that lingers on the palate, without the iodine notes often found in bigger malts. A glimpse of floral sweetness flutters around the edges and adds a lovely gracefulness.

We Say

This whisky is like a lion’s roar from the elegant inventors at Bruichladdich. They hatched a plan late one night to make the world’s most heavily peated whisky and Octomore is it. It is truly stunning, with billows of peaty bonfire smoke, delivered in the velvet glove of their signature elegance. Alter Ego: Gandalf; this little wizard looks unassuming most of the time, but when it wants to it can stand up very, very tall and dazzle everyone with its compelling power. Can blow a fine smoke ring, too.
