The Oddbins Take

They Say

Port Charlotte combines the power of peat with the elegance, complexity and floral top notes for which the Bruichladich stills are famous. Peated to a heavyweight 40ppm, Port Charlotte represents their exploration into the legacy of the great Lochindaal distillery, now silent. Operating for 100 years between 1829 and 1929, Lochindaal was renowned for its strongly peated malts. Trickle distilled in their cathedral-like still house at Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte is then matured in the original old stone warehouses in Port Charlotte.

We Say

An elegant malt from this most inventive of distilleries, Port Charlotte is a smoky, intensely peaty yet elegant whisky that offers an intriguing glimpse into Islay’s past. Alter Ego: Tony Robinson; an instantly likeable character that takes a strong interest in its native history and environment. Gets the balance between light and dark spot on, its timing is perfect and opening it up is always a cunning plan.
