The Oddbins Take

Possibly the most renowned wine critique in the world, Robert Parker made his name declaring the quality of Bordeaux wines. When Parker releases his points for a new vintage, the wine world descends into the trading floor of the New York stock exchange; "buy, sell! High, low! Quick do that chest banging thing from Wolf of Wall Street!" Thus, when Robert Parker announces a Bordeaux is worth buying, it's wise to take note. Like if Gallagher gave his opinion on watermelons... or mallets you're going to pay attention. Thus, we thought we better give Chateau Montlandrie 2011 a try after Parker declared the wine as "a thrilling offering from proprietor Denis Durantou ... revealing a dense ruby/purple colour as well as lots of sweet mulberry, kirsch, blackcurrant, liquorice, spring flower and graphite notes. Medium to full-bodied as well as remarkably concentrated, this wine outperforms many of Bordeaux's more famous names in this vintage. A stunner in quality and value!" For the record, we rather like it as well.
