Tenuta San Guido are the ultimate bad boys of the wine world. While everyone else was abiding by Italian 'Denominazione di Origine Controllata' laws, Tenuta San Guido decided to blend native grapes with high quality French varietals and made one of the finest wines in the world, Sassicaia, that was graded no higher than table wine due to their use of non-native grapes. Despite early objections to Tenuta San Guido’s rebellion, they are arguably the most respected producers in Italy.
When you bottle wine as fine as this, bright and aromatic, bursting with forest berries; fresh strawberry, blackcurrant and raspberry with ripe tannins and a juicy and crisp acidity, it appears you can make up your own rules!
